On the way up to Nashville, I made a stop in Fort Payne, Alabama, home of the Little River Canyon Park. I saw pictures of the park in Backpackers magazine and decided to give it a shot. On a very cold, 40-degree day, I rode along the scenic drive that runs parallel to the park. There are scenic spots where you can stop and take pictures.

Waterfall

The river was very beautiful and I bet looks even better during warmer seasons. There are a few trails you can hike but they were pretty disappointing, so I would recommend just sticking with the scenic drive.

Valley

Fort Payne is itself a typical Southern town. On Sunday, most businesses were closed. Not really anything else to do here but go to the park. And, it was cold - in the 40s. Winters are cold here in Alabama.
